Project Update: May 7, 2025

The District of Tofino is pleased to share that the Tonquin Trail Bridge Replacement Project is now complete. Trail access through the area has now reopened.

The aging timber-framed bridge has been successfully replaced with a new, modern steel-framed bridge, ensuring safe, year-round access across the creek and supporting the long-term sustainability of the trail.

This infrastructure upgrade addresses long-standing limitations that prevented access for maintenance equipment and delayed improvements to the southern section of the trail. With the new bridge in place, the District can now move forward with key trail remediation and maintenance initiatives.
